Review of iPod Classic(6th Gen.): Flaws, Innovations & RatingE-Design
We've recently got our hands on an iPod Classic and I must say it's a neat little device! Many people see an iPod Classic as a device to view music videos from your favorite artist, or listen to a cool calming song, and it is, but when you think about the utility that it actually offers, you'd be really overwhelmed. An iPod allows people to learn faster an intake information at an extremely rapid rate.
" The real smart students and professionals alike, record their course lectures with their camera/video phone then upload the video to their iPods "so that anywhere and everywhere they are, they can sit down and go through exactly what was said in a class to cement the teachings of that particular course. In using the iPod and assessing it's functionality and design, we've found that the iPod is a very ergonomic device and feels extremely comfortable in your hand. It feels very light and does not weigh down your pocket at all, however we suggest you still where a belt, when walking around with your iPod in your pocket.
Another interesting feature about the iPod is that it doesn't get hot in your hands when watching videos or enjoying music, it stays cool and crisp, even in a hot climate, like in the Tropics, it's still cool to the touch. The screen size is really well chosen as well, the display is rich with colors rendering vividly and it engulfs you as if you're watching a large LCD TV.The controls are easy to function and offers an efficient navigation structure for browsing your media. One suggestion that I think the team at Apple should consider creating is the ability to play radio or satellite radio on the iPod classic, I think it would provide much more value as a digital media device if this was an available feature without the need for extra peripherals.
" Despite the clean design and efficient media navigation that is the ipod Classic we've encountered some problems with it that Apple's iPod quick support was unable to rectify."For Example, the iPod we acquired is presently experiencing problems with the click wheel. For some reason the click wheel is not responding, absolutely no sort of functions available.
Even though we executed the 5 R's of troubleshooting your iPod several times including restoring it back to factory settings and clearing the drive, the iPod's Click wheel is still not responding. I'm guessing that there are few bugs that the Apple iPod programmers didn't find before launch deadline. Maybe, maybe not, but there's no getting around that Click Wheel problem we're in, so I guess we'll have to either recycle the iPod in to a portable hard drive for storing general files or send it back to Apple and ask for an exchange since the iPod is less that a month old to date. I doubt it that many customers would want a media device that gives head aches so soon after purchasing, so buck on that my iPod Programmer friends.

With an overall perspective of the media device we've concluded that the Ipod Classic is a worthy buy, especially for students and creative professionals, it will allow you to become knowledgeable in various disciplines that interest you, buy simply acquiring the specific content tailored to your interests. So, all in all, officially, we give the iPod Classic 2008/2009 or 6th Generation Model, based on Design, Functionality, Ergonomics, Menu Navigation, LCD Display, Features, Peripherals and Portability a 3.75 out of 5. Other than the problems we've encountered with the iPod Classic regarding the click wheel, an iPod Classic would be the perfect device to enjoy great music, cool videos and educational and inspiring programmes in 2009. We'll see what the new year will reveal as time progresses.
